Fragrant Sweetgrass

Description

Quantity is 1 piece, 5″ sweetgrass braid. This is not a bundle. If you like more than one braid, choose the quantity in the dropdown selection.
Two options are available:
Thin 4-5″ Braid – This is very thin usually braided from the top of the sweetgrass. It is fragrant but thin (1/4″ variation). Variable in sizes.
Thick 5″ Braid – This is of normal thickness usually 1″ variation.

* A single braid has a very light scent and it’s hand-sized. When burnt, you can smell the scent of fresh sweetgrass.
* Sweetgrass is ethically sourced from Canada and Montana.

Sweetgrass has a sweet, long-lasting aroma that is even stronger when the grass has been harvested and dried and is then moistened or burned.

Many Native tribes in North America use sweetgrass in prayer, smudging or purifying ceremonies and consider it a sacred plant. It is usually braided, dried, and burned. Sweetgrass braids smolder and doesn’t produce an open flame when burned. Just as the sweet scent of this natural grass is attractive and pleasing to people, so is it attractive to good spirits. Sweetgrass is often burned at the beginning of a prayer or ceremony to attract positive energies.

Sweetgrass is used to “smudge”; the smoke from burning sweetgrass is fanned on people, objects or areas. Individuals smudge themselves with the smoke, washing the eyes, ears, heart and body.
